Culture Stories

Overthrow digital collaborated with Culture Stories to design and develop a fresh new website to reflect their catalogue of life-style content especially for those who have been bitten by the travel bug. Additionally, the client wanted to create an online magazine and  e-commerce platform for the curated designer items sold at their shop. We aimed to execute a visually impactful, device responsive and design with great consideration given to the user experience. Lastly, our client wanted to integrate their social medias so that their content could easily be uploaded through these different channels, newsletter subscriptions and analytical data insights into their readers.

A designed, developed and tested responsive website, as the website is key to the success of the launch of the Culture Stories brand. We wanted to take special care with the appearance of the website which includes the use of imagery, typography and a clear articulation of the new brand.

We also wanted our client’s different staff users to be able to utilize the Culture Stories backend website with ease so that they could regularly upload their own content in an organized manner.

The ecommerce would be integrated seamlessly into the editorial content of the website so that the products can be easily bought if mentioned in an article for example.

Integrate social medias for ease of sharing content, and set up an email referral program so that the client could send their newsletters to existing contacts and new subscribers.

A fully designed and developed website that reflects the brand style. As well as this, a fully responsive device front end framework for optimal viewing experience across an array of devices ranging from desktop to tablets.

The magazine style section of the website has enabled the different user types to work on a platform catered for the different read/write/publish permissions that the system will require. For example, journalists who have been given privileges on the website by uploading their content (i.e. written pieces, photo essays, videos and more.) that will then be sent to a ‘Preview’ area for Editors to check and edit before being published onto the website. Furthermore, journalists and editors will be grouped depending on the category of their work i.e. Fashion, Art, Culture etc. Editors will therefore only have access to edit articles uploaded by contributors within their subject fields. The content has also been made accessible via advanced tagging and categorisation for users to navigate the site by using filters and/or keywords so that they will be able to enjoy browsing and discovering the catalogue.

The ecommerce portion of the project has been integrated with the editorial content as related posts/items and as products that can be bought as inline products that are integrated within the content of magazine articles. As well as this, we have kept the customer in mind and made the process of purchasing products from the website would be kept as simple as possible for the best shopping experience.

Integrated social medias for easy share ability throughout the different platforms which can redirect any external users from these sites back to the Culture Stories website. We have also created a simple and intuitive newsletter sign up on the website for any potential new subscribers. The subscribers can also share the newsletter with other people who may not already be subscribed thus attracting more traffic to the website.
